Il connubio poesia-rock raggiunge vette altissime in questo brano. Si potrebbe definire come brano centrale del disco, poiché svela quello che è il mistero del titolo dell’album: cos’è che non ci si può lasciare alle spalle? Il parlato iniziale svela l’enigma: “L’amore / Non è una cosa facile / L’unico bagaglio che ti puoi portare / Non una cosa facile / è tutto ciò che non ti puoi lasciare alle spalle”. Le parole sono una incitazione a tenere duro ed andare avanti, con un Bono superlativo che alla fine elenca tutte quelle cose che si possono mettere di lato. Uno dei brani che ricordano i vecchi U2. Il riff sul registrato alto di The Edge è un marchio di fabbrica, che introduce una tipica ariosa melodia. Torna a farsi sentire il pianoforte.
