Stranger in a strange land
Bono trasse il titolo da un romanzo di Robert Heinlein, per uno dei testi più efficaci contenuti in October. La canzone sembra rappresentare un’eccezionale, non tanto per il proprio tema, quanto per la fiduciosa semplicità del testo. “Stavamo andando a Berlino” ricorda Bono. Eravamo tutti nel retro del furgone, a dormire, quando venimmo fermati da una guardia confinaria. La canzone era semplicemente un piccolo ritratto di quest’uomo. La canzone poi possiede una qualità rara in October: la immedesimazione e ciò si vede nel testo scritto ovviamente a tavolino.
